This is an ongoing project with Pr Eric Maury head of reanimation at Hopital Saint Antoine, Paris and Antoine Villa, Intern in reanimation. Our goal is to help medical practitioners be faster and more accurate while placing central veinous catheters. A medical paper is being written, here is the abstract :

Ultrasound-guided placement of central venous catheters (CVCs) is usually mostly done in the out of plane (OOP) approach. The in plane (IP) approach, which is harder to master, could however improve safety and the efficacy of catheterization. The few IP needle guidance devices available on the market are single use and expensive. This study aimed to develop a DIY needle guide device, and then to evaluate whether this device could make IP catheterization easier.
